SAINT JHON´S NIGHT
Saint Jhon´s Night is an old feast. We celebrate summer soltice. We light bonfires. It´s typical other countries:
- Spain
- Portugal: Foguiras de Sao Joao
- Norway: Jonsok
- Denmark
- Swden: Midsommar
- Finlan
- UK
And also South America:
- Brasil
- Bolivia
- Chile
- Venezuela
We celebrate the feast day on twenty-three of June at night. In Spain we celebrate the feast with relatives and friends.
This night, we conect the world of the living and the world of the dead. In Galicia there are typical traditions:
- We jump the bonfire an the woves in La Lanzada
- We eat sardines and "cachelos" (boliled patatoes)
- We swim in the sea
In the city of A Coruña everybody celebrate the feast in Riazor and Orzan.
